If  you are aiming for the elusive and the highest possible score, a band 9, in IELTS because it opens more doors, then you need to know the following information.

You cannot procure band 9 without proper preparation and supervision, for that British American Resource Center BARC prepares you to get your foreseen score. In IELTS you will be tested on your proficiency with the English language. These will be divided into four sections that will test your core skills. The core skills being reading, writing, speaking and listening.

British American Resource Center teaches you the best way to prepare for IELTS and those are given below

1. Reading

In reading, you will be tested on your reading comprehension which means grasping power or understanding of the written word. As preparation for this exam, you will need to:

a. Do a lot of reading, not of news articles but topics that you will be tested on in the exams. Stick to scientific analysis or observation by academicians of current issues and matters, like the latest application of artificial intelligence or development of waste management systems in the UK. Identify the flow and genre of the passages and find blogs or featured articles to help you practice. BBC or the Guardian are recommended for finding such passages.

b. Strategize! There’s no winning a war without a strategy. There is always a pattern for each of these exams. They do not work randomly. To be able to score a band 9 you need to study the questions and think of how best to answer them all and BARC guides you with all those techniques.

c. You need at least 10 days for the mastering reading section to come close to scoring a band 9. This is assuming that you are already at band 6 to 7.5.

2. Listening

How well can you understand the British accent and the matter which is being spoken of in a conversation? How accurate is your hearing comprehension? How fast can you think in these situations? These are the questions you need to answer to be able to score well in the listening section.

a. For practice, switch to mediums that allow you to practice only listening. Avoid Television and switch to the radio instead. If your mind starts picking up a visual question to make sense of what is being said then it won’t help you score in the test.

b. Listen, again to programs based on science or technology as they are most frequently talked about in the conversations that you will hear

c. Give yourself 30 days of constant practice with at least one 5 to 10-minute radio program to make you feel like you can hear every word that is being said.

3. Writing

This is probably one of the toughest sections in the IELTS as it tests you on several parameters. You will be tested on your thought flow, grammar, sentence construction, and essay structure.

a. For this section, we suggest you take professional help as there is no correct or perfect answer to a question. An expert should know and help you with essay flow, structuring an essay, essay types and band descriptors in IELTS.

b. You should practice writing at least 20 essays and have them examined by IELTS experts in great detail.

c. Have you heard of “Band descriptors?”, well you need to focus on each of the 4 band descriptors for writing separately.

4. Speaking

This section tests you on your ability to hold a conversation or explain simple as well as complex ideas or situations. For this section, you will be tested on your fluency, and spontaneity to answer a question and use of appropriate vocabulary and language while doing so.

a. You will find that the questions in each section will vary and will become complicated as the test progresses. To make sure that you are ready, find out the type of questions that you will be asked.

b. You must again develop an approach to each section. Once again, a personal and experienced trainer can do the trick

c. Do as much mock practice with your friends, family or professionals as you can of the probable questions. If you have a personal trainer, keep a track of each mock, analyze the mistakes you made. Make sure the same mistakes are not repeated.

d. Prepare yourself to handle the pressure of “exam day” by setting yourself in the interview like scenarios. Thus, if possible, do not practice mocks with casual partners. If possible, a trainer.

e. If you can do 15 exams like mocks, you will be inching close to a very high band
